Looking for the Summer mixed media card
Hello my friends,
Tonight I’m back with a happy and summery mixed media art card bursting with textures and colours. I was really pleased with how this card turned out so I thought I will share with you how this card came to life. Enjoy! 🙂
I started working on a piece of heavy weight watercolor paper measuring 5.5 x 7 inches that I sprinkled with Bistre and Brusho powders, spritzed water and left it dry naturally. Because the background turned out to bold for my liking, I sponged Finnabair white heavy gesso to tone down the colours and then spritzed here and there SEI Tumble Dye spray – Tea.
When everything was dry I collaged some of my painted papers – leftovers from different other projects – and stamped the chevron pattern using a Carabelle stamp and ColorBox Mix’d Media Inx in black. I sprinkled the stamped image with black embossing powder and heat embossed it using a heating tool. These inks are perfect for heat embossing as they are very juicy and stay wet for a longer time.
Did a bit of background stamping using black Stazon ink and collaged the little bird (that I previously stamped on a piece of tissue paper) using Finnabair soft gel medium. I die cut one of Tim Holtz’s wildflowers and sprayed it generously with ColourArte Radiant Rain shimmer mist in Apple Blossom and glued it down. As a finishing touch I made some splatters using more Apple Blossom and white gesso diluted with water. Then I punched a circle out of a leftover piece of painted watercolour paper, covered it with a Finnabair epoxy sticker and attached it to the finished card.
Have a fun and creative evening,
