Hi there lovely friends,
How’s everyone doing? Hope you are all well busy creating!
I would like to share with you two new mixed media cards using Finnabair stamp sets and other goodies from the shop.
So here they are!
I created the background for both cards using a gelli plate clear packing tape transfer technique.
This is a very easy and super fun technique to play with! And you get ALWAYS gorgeous results, which is a bonus right?!
So, here is how it works: create your design adding layers of paint, stencil patterns and different marks directly on the gelli plate. Take care to leave it to dry after each extra layer of paint. You could use a hair dryer for speeding up the process, but NEVER a heating tool as this will ruin your wonderful gelli plate! When you’re happy with the result and all the paint is dry, cover your design with some clear packing tape. Press it and rub it to adhere as well as possible to the paint. Then peel off the tape gently, making sure none of the design is left behind.
I went on and glued the bits of tape on old french book pages using Finn’s soft gloss gel. When this was dry I adhered the pages to a sturdier base (I used some heavy watercolour paper).
I stamped the images on old book pages using StazOn ink in jet black, glued them to the background and started painting to unify everything and make the stamped images look as if they are part of the background. I finished by applying a coat of soft gel medium to seal everything and added some embellishments.
