Summer song mixed media art card
Good afternoon lovely friends,
I’m back, sharing with you today a new mixed media art card titled Summer song. The card measures 5 x 7 inches and I used heavy weight watercolour paper as a base.
After applying a random coat of gesso, I started collaging bits of old book paper, cotton fabric strips and washi tape gluing everything down with Finnabair soft gel medium. When the collage was dry I applied another coat of gesso that I mixed with marble dust for texture. When dry I began adding colour to the background sprinkling mica powders, spritz them with water and then manipulating the paper to encourage some drips. I didn’t cover with powders the entire background. When the colours were dry I applied some brown Bistre spray, mostly on the edges and dried again using my heating tool. I sponged some white heavy gesso to tone down the colours and to add more texture.

For the wooden panel I cut down the ends of some lollipop sticks and skewers, split the ends to create a worn look and glue them on a piece of cardstock. To paint the panel I just sprayed it with Bistre and then I stained it in places, adding more of the same Bistre solution, to create a natural look.

I diecut the tag and some foliage using Tim Holtz and Memory box dies, stamped the bird on a scrap of white card and painted it using Brushos and then I fussy cut it. I painted the tag using the brown Bistre again and then I spread modeling paste through a stencil to create the spray of white flowers.
I cut a strip and diecut a doily out of crunchy waxed kraft paper from PaperArtsy. I added some sewing to my strip using different stitches on my sewing machine and then, using a palette knife I applied some heavy gesso for more texture.
I glued down all the elements using Finnabair 3D gel. I added three small clay eggs and a feather to create the nest. As a final touch I sprinkled Finnabair art stones and added touches of Light Patina art alchemy acrylic paint from Finnabair.

Hope you enjoyed today’s project and tutorial. Thank you so much for stopping by and don’t forget to check out my Online Workshop. You can watch a video trailer HERE.
