Good evening my dear friends,
Tonight I would like to share with you a new art journal spread I’ve just completed which is my entry for the
More than Words February 2016 Main Challenge WONDERFUL & SPARKLE
Hope you’ll like it! 🙂
I created this spread in my handmade art journal on acrylic paper. Without any priming I started to collage scraps of paper, in clusters, randomly around the pages using matte medium to glue them down and then I added a thin layer of modelling paste through a stencil on top of the collage. When everything was dry I began adding colour to the background using ColourArte primary elements and Radiant Rain shimmer mists and left it to dry.
Separately I covered the chipboard inserts with a coat of white gesso and painted them in the same manner this time adding also a few sprinkles of Brusho pigments. The chipboard trellis itself I just covered with black gesso. I returned to the spread and sponged heavy white gesso covering part of the paint, dried the gesso using a heating tool and stamped the girls face using Staz On ink.
When everything was dry, I framed the pages with a handmade marble dust paste that I applied through a stencil. heat set it, and painted it with raw umber acrylic paint mixed with acrylic glaze. While the paint was still wet I removed some of it with a baby wipe. I repeated the same steps this time using Snow Cone gelatos and when this was dry I rubbed Archival Ink Coffee for a more grungy look.
For the finishing touches I used some of my handspun art yarn, few flowers, feathers, lots of Prima lovely sparkling crystals, Finnabair black fine glitter and a handmade paperclay tiny bird. The sentiment “always believe something wonderful is about to happen” is from a Donna Downey stamp set.
