Watercolor Class
Hello, my creative friends,
I’m excited to bring you along on another creative journey, this time into the mesmerizing and magical land of watercolors.
Come and join me in this new artistic adventure, an art journey where you will learn new techniques, you will play and have fun in the comfort of your home and at your own pace.
In this watercolor class, we’ll be creating four different paintings, guiding you from a more realistic approach to a whimsical one, covering a multitude of fun and exciting techniques along the way.
The Watercolor Wonderland class starts on the 15th of September 2018.
or, you can choose to pay in 3 monthly instalments with the instalment plan (you will receive for the 1st month- video no.1&2, 2nd month- video no.3&4 and 3rd month- video no.5)
I will demonstrate the painting techniques that I usually use to create vibrant and bold watercolor paintings. Watch each video, then practice the techniques demonstrated to build up your skills and get comfortable with the medium.
I’ve created this Watercolor Class as a place where imaginative people like you can become experienced with watercolours and improve your skills and painting techniques so you gain the confidence to paint fearlessly.
Who is this class for?
Artists of all levels who love watercolor painting and wish to learn and explore new mediums, skills and techniques. This class does not require any previous drawing skills or painting experience.
What kind of supplies do I need for this workshop?
Please remember that the materials listed below are my current personal preference and this changes often as I try new materials. So, here we go:
- a palette: plastic, metal or porcelain
- watercolor paper: Cold press, 100% cotton, 140 or 300 lb, I prefer Arches and for the class I used 140lb
A Note on Paper: I can’t tell you how essential is (for a successful watercolor painting) an artist quality watercolor paper. If you are using cheap paper, your washes will not have the responsiveness and flow that you see in my paintings. Not only that, but you will learn bad habits, working “around” the limitations of cheap paper, and when you switch to great paper for your “important” paintings, you will struggle again trying to adapt your “bad paper” habits to fit the flow & absorbency of artist-quality paper. If you buy one expensive supply, let it be your paper.
- brushes: round pointed, liner and detail brushes, angled shader, filbert and quill mop. I prefer synthetic as they are more affordable and can be quickly replaced when the point wears down.
- watercolor paint: the brands I use for this class are Daniel Smith, Schmincke, Holbein and Winsor&Newton, but I also like Sennelier and Mijelo Mission Gold. Most of the time I purchase tube paint as it’s more affordable than pans.
A Note on Watercolor paints: Please use what you already HAVE! It is not my intention at all to have you purchase all the paints I used. Afterall, you might not like at all my choice of colors, but instead, you’d want to use your favourite color scheme, so, if you have to, buy only what you think you will use. There are a number of essential materials needed as noted in this list but many things can be substituted. Let me know if you have questions.
So, I would recommend you to watch the videos, check what colours you already have and then you can purchase the ones you like and don’t have in your stash.
- optional watercolor mediums: granulating medium and ox gall liquid
- masking fluid
- a piece of natural sponge
- paper towel or clean rags for blotting a wet brush or lifting paint.
- washi tape and masking tape
- painting board - tape watercolor paper on 4 sides to a board for a white frame around your painting and to prevent the paper to buckle (it can be a clipboard or a piece of plastic, in my case I used the back of an old frame)
- rock salt to sprinkle on wet washes for texture
- at least 2 water containers – one for cleaning the brush, then rinsing in the second for perfectly clean paint & washes
- optional Gouache paint
What you’ll get?
- more than 15 hours of real time videos with easy to follow instructions
- each lesson comes with a printable sketch you can use to start your painting
- access to a private Facebook group where I can provide personalized guidance on your work and creative process and where you will be able to share your work, ask questions, interact with like-minded fellow artists from around the world and encourage each other in a friendly, stress-free atmosphere.
- lifetime access to the course content so you can watch each lesson over and over again, anytime you want and the option of downloading the videos
