Find Beauty in Decay - mixed media collage/assemblage

Hello beautiful people,

I’m back tonight with a small mixed media collage/assemblage, called “Find Beauty in Decay”, I created using the NEW Finnabair fabulous Patina paste set and the spectacular Art Alchemy Waxes. I’m telling you, these products are utterly exceptional! More I work with them I discover new ways of using them, they are so versatile and so easy and fun to work with.I don’t know if you feel the same, but I get so excited and inspired when working with products I truly love and this little canvas makes no exception.

I don’t know if you feel the same, but I get so excited and inspired when working with products I truly love and this little canvas makes no exception.

For this small mixed media collage/ assemblage, I have used a few of my favorite new Finnabair products - the Patina Paste set and Art Alchemy Waxes. When I saw them first, I got so inspired and started working straight away. The colors are just gorgeous and I love the gritty feel of the Patina paste. The waxes are so creamy and easy to work with, giving a perfect coverage on practically any support like paper, plastic, resin, plaster, wood, the sky is the limit. Pure bliss to work with them!

I started to work on a 6×6 inch wooden canvas by applying a mixture of Finnabair modeling paste and texture powder through the harlequin stencil. I also have worked the sides of the panel. When the modeling paste was dry, I covered everything with a coat of white heavy gesso and dried it using my heating tool.

Next, I glued down a Prima wooden box ( I keep all the Prima packages) and some paper clay decorations I made using a Prima mould and covered them with a layer of gesso too.

It was now time for my first layer of paint, so I grabbed two of the gorgeous Art Alchemy Antique Brilliance Wax (Red Amber and Lucky Emerald). Using first my finger and then a brush, I spread the richly luxurious waxes in thin layers, covering my entire background. The Antiques Brilliance waxes have a brown undertone that creates such a lovely and authentic vintage look. Their creaminess makes them easy to spread and blend A small amount goes a looong way. Not to mention that they smell delicious. 🙂 All of the waxes are drying permanent.

To create the weathered look I used Finnabair/Prima rust paste set and the new set called Patina paste. Let me tell you, these patina pastes are fantastic! The colours are so beautiful and so true to the real patina. You can blend and layer them with ease to create depth and an authentic vintage, rusty look.

I created my collage using a few Finnabair Mechanicals and a piece of UmWOW Studio chipboard -wire dress form- all of them “rusted” using the two sets of paste and waxes.

As a finishing touch, I diluted some rust and patina paste and made some splashes.

Have a great evening my friends and don’t forget to check out my Online Workshops . You can still take advantage of the Massive Sale that’s running in my Shop. You can read more about it here.

Much love,
