Good morning mixed media friends,
I’m back today with a small tag created for the More than words mini challenge. It’s a fun little project very easy to make.
I started with a piece of acrylic paper cut at 3.25 x 6.75 inches and shaped as a tag. I sprinkled some Brusho pigments (Gamboge and Turquoise) and then spritzed with water to create the “fireworks” effect that these dried watercolours are famous for. Left everything dry naturally for about an hour or so and then using a stencil and some ColourArte gold pure mica minerals I created a subtle pattern. The black grid like pattern I created using some Tulip paint. After everything was dry I sponged some super heavy gesso in places to tone down the colours. While I was waiting for the gesso to dry, I went and stamped the butterflies a piece of watercolor paper using StazOn ink, colored them with watercolor pencils and fussy cut them. Glued down the butterflies using some Finnabair 3D gel and decorated them with Finnabair micro beads and some fine glitter (I mixed 2 shades of blue and black) and then I dropped some soft gel and while wet I sprinkled with the same glitter mixture. I died the ribbon with some ColourArte Shimmer mists in Apple Blossom and Teal Zircon to match the tag. As the challenge was about using the word “BE”, I stamped the Donna Downey “be empowered”stamp using StazOn ink on a scrap of watercolor paper. And there you have it. Hope you like it.

View CommentSoooo pretty! The close-ups are incredible. Don’t you just love using ColourArts Twinkling H20s? They have such fantastic colors and the shimmer from the mica powder is amazing. The edging with black ink and the sparkles rally make the card pop! I can’t wait to try this. Thanks for the great idea and directions!
