Quick and easy art journal page - “Make each day count”

Hello lovely friends,

Today I have for you a fun, quick and easy art journal page which will be great for beginners too! 🙂

To create this art journal page, I played with the new Finnabair Art Alchemy Impasto paints by Prima. These paints are absolutely gorgeous in every single way: fifteen rich and vibrant colours with a creamy, thick consistency, they are loaded with pigments and they dry permanent with a perfect matte finish. They are great for all the acrylic (traditional or not) painting or mixed media, collage and printmaking techniques. These paints will really make your projects look amazing! You will just love, love, love them as much as I do! 🙂

So, this being said, let’s start on this art journal page, shall we?

I began by collaging scraps of old book pages in my handmade (heavyweight watercolour paper) art journal using Finn’s soft matte gel, which is just perfect for the job and then I applied a thin coat of white heavy gesso. I dried everything with my heating tool and then I grabbed some graphite texture paste and spread it through the harlequin stencil with a silicone brush. This paste gives such a wonderful texture and the paint catches it to perfection!

When the texture paste was dry, I covered it with a layer of gesso as I wanted my paints to stay true to their colour.

After the gesso had dried, I started painting to my heart’s content, using Jade, Lemon Peel, Poppy Red, Cobalt and Snow White. I spread them with brushes, with my fingers, spritzed them with water and left them run on the page, getting messier by the minute LOL. When I was pleased with the result, I did a bit of background stamping using two clear stamps from Finnabair, black archival ink and Snow White paint.

I added a bit of shading around the diamonds using an Inktense pencil and a water brush and painted a lovely chipboard piece with Lemon Peel and Poppy Red.

As a finishing touch, I watered down Cobalt, Snow White and Jade paints and did some splattering and then I pasted the chipboard flower on my art journal page with 3D matte gel and stamped the words. And there you have it! 🙂

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Have a great evening my friends and don’t forget to check out my Online Workshops. đꙂ I’d be delighted to see you in the classroom!

Much love,
