Good afternoon my lovely friends,
I’m back today with something a bit different - a layout I’ve created for the 7 Dots Studio January - February Challenge Industrial Theme. I have used the 9th Wave Collection papers. Hope you’ll like it. Enjoy!
I started with a 12 x 12 piece of paper from 7 Dots Studio 9th Wave Collection - Stormy Sea that I glued on a piece of chipboard. I needed a sturdy base as I was going to add lots of metal embellishments to this LO. I covered the center of my paper with Finnabair black gesso, dried it with a heating tool and then I added more black gesso through a stencil. While this layer was still wet I sprinkled a generous amount of rusting powder, got rid of the excess and then activated the powder by spritzing it with a mixture of water and white vinegar. Left it sit for about half an hour and then dried it thoroughly. Repeated the same steps for rusting all my metal embellies.
While I was waiting for the rusting effect to develop, I went and created my cluster of more 7 Dots and other papers, added some plasterboard joint tape in some places and a gorgeous photo of some natural rusted industrial cogs that I found on Pinterest.
Adhered everything to the background and then started to play with the placement of my metal bits and glued them down when I was pleased with the result. Then I added here and there a layer of Finnabair clear crackle paste, glass glitter and microbeads.
Using ColourArte shimmer mists, primary elements and pure mica minerals I started painting my LO trying to match the colours in my photo for a cohesive look. When everything was dry I went and sponged some extra heavy white gesso.
For the finishing touches I used Finnabair fine glitter and inked the edges of the layout using Colorbox Mix’d Media Inx and here you have it.
